Primitive hooking uses wool strips cut 1/8th-1/4th inch wide, with simple "outline and fill" coloration techniques. Primitive style hooking makes use of a variety of tweeds, plaids and hand dyed woolens in a whimsical folk-art style.

My specialty is Primitive style, because it is most similar to the antique rugs that inspire me! Examples of my own rugs can be viewed in the Gallery. I have created a variety of kits for you to choose from, in all sizes. Every kit is individually drawn, and packed with heirloom and hand dyed wools. Traditional or Tapestry rug hooking requires more systematic shading, more refined flannel-weight wools, a smaller tipped rug hook, and thinner strips cut with a mechanical stripping machine.
